Been away too long. Comes with doing for others. Let's see how much they appreciate it later on down the road.

Glad to see some trying to keep things alive here. Not sure I can make it daily, but will drop by more often.

lol I have been here keeping cosy company when I can. With work now I am not here nearly as much. Much busier now, which isn't a bad thing.

Ya I guess that is true. Plates can take a while. Just hope we get them soon. Getting tired of having temp plates on it.

Nice to see ya back Perk.

Today, Sunday, was the hottest day of the year, 101. Past couple of weeks were barn burners, prior to that was nice.

Great day to stay in and watch football. KC looked good or was it that Jacksonville was that bad? I guess next week vs Dallas we will know more.

Here in Missouri, when we buy plates for cars, we leave the DMV with them, then get yearly stickers after that. In even years, we can get 2 year stickers for even year vehicles, and in odd years, 2 years for odd year cars. Trailers are 3 years, due the end of Dec.

if memory serves, Illinois is yearly on the stickers, when you buy a car you get 'temporary' plates (it used to be a piece of paper you put in your back window, now I see they are real plates that go where real plates do), and if I remember my sister complaining--the price for those wonderful stickers is like over $100 now. (pwnd is still in illinois if I remember correctly).....so

yeah, he is waiting for the permanent plates to come.
Do you have vanity plates there??? do they make they while you wait? (if you leave with your plates----)

was pretty warm today, but not too bad--supposed to be hot the rest of the week, again.

Ya Illinois are every year. So every year we spend $101 on registration stickers. The reason we don't have the plates yet is because we bought it through a dealer. So they took care of the title and registration stuff. Thus they had to send it on (probably did so on Monday) to the DMV. So the DMV has to take time to process it and then send us the plates. Takes a bit for it to happen since the government is slow. And yes, I am still in the good ol' state of Illinois.

Our plates aren't going to be vanity. Just random numbers. Just need everything to get processed and sent. Hopefully this week.

96 tomorrow... 99 on Tuesday. Sweat.

I was asking Perk about vanity plates...how do they handle that if you get your plates immediately when you go to the dmv? (sorry about the misunderstanding there pwnd). Do they stamp them while you wait?

and yeah, pwnd, since monday was a holiday, they wouldnt have gone in until tuesday at the earliest (if you did this last week) and even if you didnt that holiday would take another day off of when the ole government employeeeees would be doing anything resembling work.(including the po).

got to see the last star trek movie again (not in the abusively LOUD theater.) --a friend got an early blu ray edition and watched it on his set up...so much nicer when you can control the volume, now if we could just adjust the excessive lens flares----

If you get vanity plates at the DMV they have to order them. So then they give you temp plates and you wait for a couple of weeks for the new plates to come in. They definitely do not do it there while you wait.

Did it two weeks ago, so the Monday they would have got sent in was not a holiday. Thus should have been already in the process by this past Monday.

5:30 comes to early...

Lens flare is that directors thing. He loves it. All the time. And LENS FLARE! He always needs more lens flare.

well, he can love it all he wants, but I dont, and wont pay money to see it.

only had vanity plates when I lived in idehohoho...and they were the same cost as reg plates, never had them again --heck when I got them I had to go to a dealership to have the old plates cut off of my car! the bolts/nuts had fused/rusted to the frame and no amount of lubrication could even move them, the head on the nuts was too small to get around, and not enough space to cut thru the bolt.....that was fun.

bleh....you know its hot when at midnight its still in the mid 80's

Ya, some people are definitely against it. Can't say I blame them too much. It does get annoying.

Ya vanity plates here definitely cost more, which is understandable since they have to make them just for you. But oh well. Don't need. Liquid wrench is a beautiful thing. Helps with that usually.

Well supposed to be in the mid-90's or above through Wednesday...

they tried all those tricks--even the mechanics couldnt get the bolts to move, that's what 6 years in the wonderful illinois weather will do to ya.

well at least this time I could turn the sound down so I could hear when the movie was over.... it was waaay too loud in the theater (I am amazed that kids these days still have hearing!)

Sometimes it just takes a lot more to get it off. At least they got it off. And ya, Illinois weather does suck. Take today for example. Hot as heck. Then of course I decided to go for a 5k run. Stupid... But I did it. Now I'm tired lol

Ya the theaters are super super loud...

argh...the heat today...so glad the front went thru and cooled it off---and took some of the mold out of the air (VERY high on the scale, glad I didnt have to go anywhere today).

and then the ups story....ordered some stuff (and having my photo dvd sent to me), all of which was supposed to come on the 12th....first off, the one place divided my order into 2 parts, not much of a biggie....but, watching the tracking, one package (both shipped at the same time), got thru to our local ups distribution a day early, so it came today, still on for tomorrow for the dvd, while the other box (shipped the same day as the one I got today), was ...delayed until friday! So now instead of just having ONE day of deliveries, I have 3! Still dont quite understand it.

Supposed to start cooling down today. So I guess the front is going through today. Thank goodness...

They like to make things really difficult I guess. Only thing I can figure.

Well hopefully they both arrive today. I like when they arrive early, but hate it when they arrive late... That definitely is not fun. Especially since I pay for Amazon Prime! Free 2 day shipping means I get it in 2 days, not 3 or 4!

Well I'm glad they both showed up. That is always a good moment when packages arrive on time or early.

Amazon usually does a pretty good job of getting the packages here in a day or two, but sometimes it takes 3 days. The 3 day ones are the annoying ones. Though sometimes I feel like they say it is going to arrive a day later than it is so that you are super pumped when it arrives early.

I dont like amazon and I dont like their policies and I dont like that they are supporting the internet tax. I will not use them. I dont like that they dont use the good ole usps here and use some very VERY cheap local shippers who cant even speak english!
There are plenty of other places to buy from on the internet who get my business instead.

(for movies etc...there are still a bunch of local places I can go on release day and get the videos--though I am not really a 'NEEEEEDD ITTT NOWWWW!!' type of person, I can wait for those things I WANT, they arent going anywhere--usually, patience is a virtue I learned while living in japan)

I always have got my packages via UPS through them. And I'm not a big fan of the internet tax either but I see it as an inevitable outcome.

I don't usually need to get movies now either. But the two day shipping is nice when I need supplies for school and they are $10 cheaper online than in stores. Thus one of the main reasons I use it. Plus I used to use it to get video games on release day since I usually couldn't get out to get it when I lived further from a big city.
